Introducing myself...: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Community

Hi,

?

Here is the ilnk to the Bass Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases at LPCH where our son is treated.

?

We are fortunate to live driving distance from LPCH, but I meet TONS of people who aren't.

?

I can only guess that you're exhausted, but if you feel you can pull the energy together to get to LPCH, you might give it a try for a second opinion. I know that for many kids coming from the Central Valley, they put together a plan that takes advantage of your local resources as much as possible to minimize trips to Stanford.

?

For myself, I have a dear dear friend I rely on heavily. Mostly, it's just a daily phone call about nothing, but it grounds me. Once she was complaining about something NORMAL, like nagging her kids to do homework and she said "oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm complaining to you about this boring silly thing when you have so much on your mind" and I told her I was so grateful for a normal conversation about normal things.

I also have another friend who is a doctor, and she helps? me understand some of the things that the doctors are saying, even though she isn't an oncologist. I couldn't be more grateful to her.

I also nap. It may sound odd, but I get overwhelmed sometimes, and a? nap helps me reset emotionally. I don't even always sleep. I just put the timer on for 30-45 minutes and lie down, close my eyes and try to drift someplace still.

Apparently, I also eat, which must be true since my jeans have become so tight .
