Dominicans throughout the Bronx are preparing for a week of celebrations and pride.

This week's events will lead up to the Bronx Dominican Day Parade on Sunday.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz said the parade will honor the achievements and culture of a growing Dominican population in the Bronx.

"You cannot write that wonderful story without a big chapter there being of the contributions from the Dominican community," he said.

Parade directors were honored with a proclamation launching Bronx Dominican Day Parade Week.
