The 11th Annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer kicked off Saturday morning at Soldier Field.
The walk offer thousands of participants a choice of walking a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon-and-a-half (39.3 miles) along Lake Michigan over a weekend.
In 2012, walkers raised more than $6 million to support research towards a cure for breast cancer.
There is a new diagnosis of breast cancer every three minutes. Through 2012, the Avon Foundation for women has donated more than $55 million to organizations and institutions in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin.
