All eyes are on London for the Olympics this year.? The Olympics are a favorite of many.? Some of the most watched summer events are gymnastics, swimming, the decathlon, and basketball.? Some of the more popular winter events are figure skating, downhill skiing, and hockey.

Training for the Olympics takes life-long dedication.? It?s amazing what some of these athletes go through to compete and how far sporting events have come since the first Olympics were held in Athens.? Many Texans have participated in the Olympic games.? We?ve put together a list of some of the past medalists who have a Texas connection?either born here, lived here, or spent their college career in our great state.? Read on!

Lance Armstrong - Armstrong was born in Plano, Texas, in September of 1971.? He actually started his career as a swimmer at the City of Plano Swim Club but soon developed a passion for triathlons.? He competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics in bicycling.? His performance got him noticed.? He also won the Tour de France a record seven times.

Tara Lipinski - At only 15-years-old, Tara Lipinski won the Ladies' Singles Olympic gold medal in figure skating at the 1998 Winter Olympics.? She was born in Philadelphia, but her family transferred to Sugar Land, Texas.

Mildred ?Babe? Didrickson. Known to many as ?Babe,? this incredible woman has successful sporting careers in golf, basketball, and track-and-field.? She was born in the coastal oil city of Port Arthur, Texas, and earned two gold and a silver medal in the 1932 Olympics.

Clyde Drexler. Drexler was honored to win an Olympic gold medal in 1992 and then went on to win an NBA championship with the Houston Rockets in 1995.? He was born in Louisiana but grew up in the South Park area of Houston.
